I'd Rather Bake a Cake

I gave my life to Christ at age nine at a youth camp in Czechoslovakia. I read the Bible and though I knew what was written there. I participated in various classes, but didn't dare take a leadership role. I'm not very creative; I'd rather bake a cake. Then came the chance to be part of an inductive Bible study group and, later, to study the newest Entrust course, Walking with Christ. Both opportunities included a commitment to pass on the training to others. I didn't want to be like the Hebrews who "ought to be teachers" but still "need milk, not solid food!"
I didn't really know what to expect. I was shy about deciding which women to invite to a group I would lead, but God showed me who to ask. Three of us started out, now we are five women who study the Bible together. When I try to prepare for the lessons on my own, it doesn't work. So I've learned to pray for God to show me and to expect He will be with us.
I've come to really value women through these studies and I know that God has called me to work with them. It's important to share with others what I've learned. There aren't many opportunities to study a course like Walking with Christ. Ever since the beginning new people have heard about the course and joined. We only meet for a few hours each month, so it's been difficult to get to know each other deeply with so many women. Additional groups are needed.
Participating in these courses is like going on an expedition. There is no danger like in the jungle, but there is the same anticipation about what I'll discover next. I don't want to be the one who looks in a mirror and immediately forgets what she looks like. Application is difficult at times, even painful, but if I am not willing to be changed, God can't bless the study.
