Richard D. Harig
University of Oregon, Eugene, B.A., 1974 Principal, Legacy Resources, LLC, Northbrook, Ill. Entrust board member since 2001
Rick first trusted Christ as his Savior and Lord in 1982 as a result of intense conversations with an Evangelism Explosion team. An entrepreneur since college, he began his career in securities in 1979. During the 1980s, he raised funds for private placements and an initial public offering, which led to a move to Europe. Since returning from Europe in 1994, he has worked as a principal with Legacy Resources, LLC, helping families develop financial strategies based on their unique values, risk-tolerance and goals. He and his wife, Joanna, live in Northbrook, Ill. They have two grown children.
“I lived in Vienna with my family from 1992-1994, where our closest friends were Entrust staff. I got to know the ministry through those on the ground doing the good work of Entrust. After leaving Vienna, I realized the Lord’s purpose in having us there was to meet the people of Entrust, since nothing of lasting career value came from those years. This relationship with Entrust staff led me to be willing to join the board when I was asked. I serve on this board because I see this as a natural progression from getting saved to bringing heaven on earth. I don’t think we are saved for ourselves and I don’t think we are saved for heaven, otherwise once we were saved God would bring us home to heaven. It’s our job in the world to reclaim the culture so we can bring heaven on earth – I think that’s the ultimate mandate. I’m involved in ministries focused on 'Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth.' For me, Entrust represents the ends of the earth.”
