STEP internship: opportunity to learn and contribute

Kristin Anderson’s 2-month Entrust STEP internship at our home office in Colorado was a time of learning for her, and a time making valuable and lasting contributions to our ministry.

She assisted with various projects for several departments while simultaneously learning about non-profit management, which was one of her areas of study in college.

Kristin did some excellent research for Entrust into various donor management software systems, presenting and discussing her findings with leadership. She took part in a number of informational meetings with departments like finance, donor relations and human resources, where she learned about management of each area.

“One of the most meaningful parts of Kristin’s internship may have been the Friday morning conversations with our global Entrust field staff members,” says Renee Pitts, STEP coordinator. Kristin had the opportunity to hear from Entrust colleagues serving in Serbia, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary, South Africa and two restricted-access countries, hearing how God called and equipped them for ministry. Each staff member took time to invest in and pray for Kristin, and each of them shared their own insights about decision-making and hearing God’s voice in times of uncertainty.

Deborah Covert, one of those who worked closely with Kristin throughout her STEP internship, says the experience may have further confirmed God’s calling into full-time ministry.

“My observations of her as a person are that if anyone is gifted as an international ministry worker, she is,” Deborah says. “She has the kind of fearless, pioneering, independent spirit I would expect of someone who would do well living anywhere to serve the Lord, unafraid of the unknown. I could see her serving anywhere on the globe that God might call her to. I could absolutely see her serving on the field someday.”
