Best English lesson ever!

by Laurie Lind, Entrust staff writer

At least 80 children, along with several parents and grandparents, learned about the good news of Jesus over the Christmas holidays through Jerry and Marilyn Farnik’s English clubs and classes in the Czech Republic.

One of the young girls was always very eager to learn about the Bible at Bible club. Jerry and Marilyn met her grandmother over Christmas, learning that she had eight grandchildren for whom she had prayed for years. This little girl was the first of her grandchildren to want to talk about the Lord.

Another student attended a Christmas event with her mother. The mother did not hesitate to state that she was an atheist. Still, she listened to the gospel and, at the end of the event, asked if the group could all meet again at her home for an Easter party in the spring. She explained, “You know, when Christians celebrate how Christ died and rose again!”

During Christmas clubs, Jerry and Marilyn shared the gospel. It was the first time many of the children had ever heard about why Jesus came into the world. One little girl’s said it was the best English lesson ever.
